By applying for the Indigenous General Merit Undergraduate Scholarships for Students Commencing Term 1, 2022 you may be considered for the following scholarships. More scholarships may be added to this list progressively.

Scholarship Value and Duration Eligibility
Mr & Mrs Ngiam Tong Yuen Residential Scholarship for Indigenous Students (PUCE1023)

$25,000 per annum for 4 years

  • Indigenous Australian (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander only); and

  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate studies in any undergraduate degree program at UNSW, including double degrees.

  • Be residing at Basser College.

  • Be from a rural or remote area.
Mr & Mrs Ngiam Tong Yuen Family Scholarship (UGCE1187)

$10,000 per annum for the minimum duration of program

  • Indigenous Australian (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander only); and

  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate studies in any undergraduate degree program at UNSW, including double degrees.
School of Mathematics and Statistics Indigenous Scholarship (UGCE1268)

$5,000 per annum for the minimum duration of program

  • Indigenous Australian (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander only); and

  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate studies in a Bachelor of Advanced Science or Bachelor of Science (Advanced Mathematics), including double degrees with a declared major in the School of Mathematics & Statistics.
Malcolm Cole Indigenous Scholarship (UGCE1097)

$5,000 per annum for the minimum duration of program

  • Indigenous Australian (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander only); and

  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate studies in the School of the Arts & Media. Enrolment in a double degree is permissible.
Norman, Disney & Young Indigenous Scholarship (UGCA1634)

$5,000 per annum for the minimum duration of program up to 5 years

  • Indigenous Australian (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander only); and

  • Be commencing full-time study in a Bachelor of Engineering, specialising in one of the following:
    • Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Mechatronic Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Photovoltaics & Solar Engineering
    • Renewable Engineering
    Enrolment in a double degree is permissible.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:
  • Academic Merit
  • Leadership skills (school, workplace or community)
  • Extra-curricular activities (sporting, cultural activities, volunteer/work experience)
  • Aptitude and commitment to studies

This scholarship will be automatically awarded to the student who shows the highest academic achievement and meets the eligibility criteria.

Scholarship Value and Duration Eligibility
UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture Indigenous Scholarship (UGCE1390) $10,000 per annum for the minimum duration of program
  • Indigenous Australian (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander only); and

  • Completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent) or IB in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period; and

  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate (single or dual) degree program in the Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture at UNSW, and

  • Preference will be given to rural applicants*
UNSW Indigenous Undergraduate Business Scholarship (UGCE1328) $5,000 per annum for the minimum duration of program (up to 4 years)
  • Indigenous Australian (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander only); and

  • Have completed the UNSW Indigenous Pre-Program in Business; and

  • Have received a full offer to an eligible undergraduate degree program in the UNSW Business School.

*Must have lived in a rural, regional or remote area within the two years prior to the start of your UNSW studies.
Check the Australian Standard Geographic Classification Remoteness Areas (ASGC-RA) system map to check your eligibility. All categories other than 'RA1 - Major Cities of Australia' are considered to be regional or remote with the exception of Hobart.

UNSW reserves the right not to award a scholarship, where there is no applicant of sufficient merit, or if the applicant does not meet the scholarship eligibility and/or selection criteria.
