UNSW Scholarships for International Students Commencing Term 3, 2024

UNSW offers a wide range of scholarships and awards to support international undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students commencing full-time study at UNSW. Some scholarships will provide a full or partial tuition fee payment, while others provide a stipend to assist with the costs associated with your studies. Students wishing to undertake postgraduate research study should contact the Graduate Research School.

To be considered for the scholarships specified in this section, applicants must complete and submit an application for the UNSW Scholarships for International Students Commencing Term 3, 2024 (PUCA1029) by the deadline.

By applying for PUCA1029 you will be considered for any scholarship in this list that you satisfy the eligibility criteria for.

Applications open on Wednesday, 1 May 2024 and will close at 11:59PM AEST, Wednesday, 31 July 2024. Please ensure you allow enough time to submit your application as we are unable to accept late applications. Any exception requests such as late admission due to pending academic results will need to be emailed to scholarships@unsw.edu.au before the deadline.

SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE AN APPLICATION


International students commencing in Term 3, 2024 are not required to submit an application for the scholarships and awards listed in this section. Eligible students who have received an offer of admission to commence at UNSW in Term 3, 2024 will be automatically considered for these scholarships and awards.

Offers for these scholarships and awards will be awarded to eligible students on a competitive basis using your application for admission to UNSW. You do not need to submit any specific scholarship application or additional supporting documentation to be considered.

International Student Award

The International Student Award has been established to assist students from low income and developing countries to access education at a highly ranked Australian university. It is available to eligible new students commencing in 2023 and 2024 and provides a 15% contribution towards tuition fees for the duration of program.

Provides a 15% contribution directly towards tuition fees.

Application Process

To apply for the UNSW International Student Award applicants must submit a personal statement of no more than 500 words outlining their reasons to study the proposed program at UNSW. 

New applicants can upload their personal statement through Apply Online as part of their application.

Existing offer holders should upload their personal statement via Apply Online or myUNSW if you are a UNSW Foundation or UAC applicant.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be an International Student; and
  • Be a citizen of an eligible country; and
  • Be commencing full-time study as a new student on campus^ in a UNSW Diploma, UNSW undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program (excluding programs offered by AGSM, UNSW Online, UNSW Canberra, UNSW Foundation Programs, Transition Program Online, any program taught in the Hexamester calendar, or Study Abroad students); and
  • Have applied and received an offer of admission* into a UNSW undergraduate or postgraduate degree program; and
  • Not be a current student of UNSW (exceptions made for those who have completed an undergraduate program at UNSW and are commencing a postgraduate program).

^ Open to students commencing studies online in a program that is usually offered on campus.
* Open to students commencing their studies at UNSW in 2023 and 2024.

International Scientia Coursework Scholarship (PUCA1025)

Value

  • Offer 1: Full tuition fee scholarship paid directly towards tuition fees for the minimum duration of program
  • Offer 2: $20,000 per annum paid directly towards tuition fees for the minimum duration of program

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be an International Student; and
  • Be commencing full-time study on campus in a UNSW undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program (excluding UNSW Online and UNSW Canberra); and
  • Have received an offer of admission* into an eligible program for Term 3 2024 by Wednesday, 31 July 2024.
    * Offers of admission must be one of the following:
    • Undergraduate or postgraduate Letter of Offer (unconditional); or
    • Undergraduate or postgraduate Conditional English Package Offer (UEEC) - students must be enrolled in the UNSW Institute of Languages and successfully complete the program prior to commencing in Term 3 2024.

Selection Criteria

Each applicant will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate:

Lily and Dr Ben K.C. Chng Scholarship (UGCE1129)

The purpose of the Scholarship is to support and encourage students from Singapore to undertake full-time undergraduate study at UNSW Arts, Design and Architectures’ School of Built Environment.

Value

$5,000 per annum payable for normal minimum duration of degree towards tuition fees.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be an International Student and hold a Singapore citizenship. 
  • Be commencing a UNSW undergraduate coursework degree program offered through the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture's School of Built Environment. 
  • Hold a diploma or equivalent course of at least 2 years credit from one of the following institutions: Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic.
  • Must have received an offer of admission* into an eligible program for Term 3 2024 by Wednesday 31 July 2024*
    Offers of admission must be one of the following:
    • Undergraduate Letter of Offer (unconditional)
    • Undergraduate Conditional English Package Offer (UEEC) - students must be enrolled in the UNSW Institute of Languages and successfully complete the program prior to commencing in Term 3 2024.

Selection Criteria

The UNSW Law & Justice International Award has been established to encourage high quality international students to join UNSW Law programs (LLB, JD or LLM)

Value

$10,000 paid as a stipend for 1 year

Application Process:

Submit a UNSW Scholarships for International Students Commencing Term 3, 2024 (PUCA1029) by 11.59PM AEST Wednesday, 31 July 2024.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be an International Student; and
  • Be commencing in any UNSW Law & Justice undergraduate/postgraduate coursework degree program (LLB, JD or LLM programs)
  • Must have received an offer of admission* into an eligible program for Term 3 2024 by Wednesday 31 July 2024* Offers of admission must be one of the following:
    • Undergraduate or Postgraduate Letter of Offer (unconditional)
    • Undergraduate or Postgraduate Conditional English Package Offer (UEEC) - students must be enrolled in the UNSW Institute of Languages and successfully complete the program prior to commencing in Term 3 2024.

Selection Criteria

Each applicant will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate:

UNSW Business School International Pathways Award (PUCA1023)

Value:

$15,000 paid directly towards tuition fees for 1 year.

Submit a UNSW Scholarships Application for International Students Commencing Term 3, 2024 by 11.59PM AEST Wednesday, 31 July 2024.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be an International Student
  • Have undertaken:
    • An undergraduate or postgraduate (Master) coursework articulation pathway qualification from an approved partner institution; or
    • Completed the UNSW Foundation Studies Commerce or Commerce Actuarial stream prior to commencing study at UNSW; and
    • Have achieved academic excellence in the relevant program of study at the pathway partner institution or in the eligible UNSW Foundation Studies Stream; and
  • Not have previously undertaken any other tertiary studies prior to commencing study at UNSW (undergraduate applicants); and
  • Must have received an offer of admission and be commencing in any UNSW undergraduate (single/dual) or postgraduate (Master) coursework degree program offered by UNSW Business School by Wednesday, 31 July 2024 (excluding any program offered by AGSM in Term 3, 2024). This must include one of the following:
    • Undergraduate or Postgraduate Letter of Offer (unconditional)
    • Undergraduate or Postgraduate Conditional English Package Offer (UEEC) - students must be enrolled in the UNSW Institute of Languages and successfully complete the program prior to commencing studies.

UNSW Business School International Scholarship (PUCA1024)

Value:

$5,000 per annum paid directly towards tuition fees for the minimum duration of program

Application Process:

Submit a UNSW Scholarships Application for International Students Commencing Term 3, 2024 by 11.59PM AEST Wednesday 31 July 2024.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be International (Not a permanent resident of Australia/Australian Citizen)
  • Any UNSW undergraduate (single/dual) or postgraduate (Master) coursework degree program offered by UNSW Business School, excluding those offered by AGSM.
  • Must have received an offer of admission* by Wednesday, 31 July 2024 and be commencing an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program offered by UNSW Business School in Term 3, 2024.
  • Undergraduate applicants must have completed an assessable Senior Secondary School qualification immediately prior to commencing study at UNSW and not have undertaken prior tertiary study.
  • Not be in receipt of the UNSW Business School International Pathways Award.

*Offers of admission must be one of the following:

  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate Letter of Offer (unconditional)
  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate Conditional English Package Offer (UEEC) - students must be enrolled in the UNSW Institute of Languages and successfully complete the program prior to commencing in Term 3 2024.

The UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture GEMS Education International Award (UGCA1644) has been established to support students from GEMS Education International to study at UNSW.

Value

$10,000 payable for one year only towards tuition fees. 

Application Process:

Submit a UNSW Scholarships Application for International Students Commencing Term 3, 2024 by 11.59PM AEST Wedneday 31 July 2024.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be an International Student
  • Provide evidence of graduation from a GEMS Education School. 
  • Be commencing full-time study in an undergraduate degree coursework program owned by the Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture. 
  • Must have received an offer of admission* into an eligible program for Term 3 2024 by Wednesday 31 July 2024*
  • Offers of admission must be one of the following:
    • Undergraduate Letter of Offer (unconditional)
    • Undergraduate Conditional English Package Offer (UEEC) - students must be enrolled in the UNSW Institute of Languages and successfully complete the program prior to commencing in Term 3 2024.

Selection Criteria

There is no application required for this Award. Students that meet the eligibility criteria will be automatically considered for this award.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be an international student; and
  • Be commencing full-time study on campus in a UNSW undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program (excluding UNSW Online and UNSW Canberra); and
  • Have received an offer of admission* into an eligible program for Term 3 2024.
    * Offers of admission must be one of the following:
    • Undergraduate or postgraduate Letter of Offer (unconditional)
    • Undergraduate or postgraduate Conditional English Package Offer (UEEC) - students must be enrolled in the UNSW Institute of Languages and successfully complete the program prior to commencing in Term 3 2024.

Note: Students who have completed a UNSW College Foundation Studies or Global Diploma Program prior to commencing an undergraduate program are not eligible for this Award. UNSW College Foundation Studies students will be considered for the UNSW College Academic Award (PUCA1027).

UNSW College Award (PUCA1027)

The UNSW College Award has been established to support high-achieving UNSW College students to take undergraduate study at UNSW.

UNSW College offers a range of academic and English language pathway programs to international students who have just missed out on direct entry into UNSW.

Students who successfully complete a UNSW College Foundation Studies program and intend on progressing to a UNSW bachelor’s degree are eligible for the UNSW College Academic Award.

Value

$10,000 for one year. Payment will be made directly towards tuition fees in the second term of the first year of study.

Recipients of the Award may also be offered the following:

  • Invitation to UNSW networking events

Application Process

There is no application required for this Award.

Students completing a UNSW College Foundation Studies program will automatically be considered for this Award.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be an international student; and
  • Must be completing a UNSW College Foundation Studies program (in Sydney or off-shore); and
  • Be commencing full-time study on campus in a UNSW undergraduate coursework degree program (excluding UNSW Canberra); and
  • Have received an offer of admission* into an eligible program for Term 3 2024.  
    * Offers of admission must be one of the following:
    • Undergraduate Letter of Offer (unconditional)

  • Be a citizen of India, and not a permanent resident of Australia; and
  • Be residing in India prior to commencing study at UNSW for undergraduate applicants. Postgraduate applicants may have prior residence in Australia; and
  • Have received an offer of admission* into an eligible UNSW undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program for Term 3 2024.
    * Offers of admission must be one of the following:
    • Undergraduate or postgraduate Letter of Offer (unconditional); or

    * Offers of admission must be one of the following:
    • Undergraduate or postgraduate Letter of Offer (unconditional); or

The UNSW Articulation Scholarships have been established to attract and award high achieving students to study Engineering at UNSW as part of an articulation program with the following partner institutions in India:

- Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE)

- Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TI)

- Christ Univeristy (CU)

- Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT)

- SVKM's NMIMS University

- UPES University (UPES)

Value

$5,000 per annum paid as a stipend for minimum duration of program.

There is no application required for these scholarships.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be an international student; and
  • Have undertaken an undergraduate articulation pathway qualification from an approved partner institution (listed above); and 
  • Be commencing full-time study in a UNSW undergraduate coursework degree program offered by the Faculty of Engineering; and
  • Have received an offer of admission* into an eligible program for Term 3 2024.  
    * Offers of admission must be one of the following:

    Selection Criteria

    Each applicant will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate:

    China Institution Mining Engineering Scholarship (UGCA1586)

    The China Institution Mining Engineering Scholarship (UGCA1586) has been established to attract and award high achieving students to study a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) at UNSW as part of an articulation program with the following partner institutions in China:

    - China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT)

    - China University of Mining and Technology, Beijing (CUMTB)

    - University of Science and Technology, Beijing (USTB)

    - Northeastern University (NEU)

    Value

    $5,000 per annum paid as a stipend for minimum duration of program.

    There is no application required for this scholarship.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Be an international student; and
    • Have undertaken an undergraduate articulation pathway qualification from an approved partner institution (listed above); and 
    • Be commencing full-time study in the UNSW Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)(Mining) program offered by the Faculty of Engineering; and
    • Have received an offer of admission* into an eligible program for Term 3 2024.
