Outline

The purpose of this application is for applicants to be potentially considered for multiple Science Faculty scholarships, depending on individual scholarship criteria. More scholarships will be added to this list progressively.

The Ian and Barbara Burgess Memorial Rural Science Scholarship (UGCE1262)

  • Value: $11,000 per annum
  • Duration: The normal minimum duration of program
  • Number available: Two

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Have completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent) or IB, either:
    • in the year prior to commencing study at UNSW, or
    • in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period; and

  • Be a rural applicant:
  • The Australian Standard Geographical Classification Remoteness Areas (ASGC) classifications accepted under the program are RA2 (with the exception of Hobart), RA3, RA4 or RA5. To determine whether your home postcode is classified as inner regional (RA2), outer regional (RA3) or remote rural (RA4 or RA5) please refer to the Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) map for details. (Note: Hobart is not classified as rural for the purposes of this Scholarship); and

  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate (single or dual) degree program in the Faculty of Science at UNSW.

  • Academic Merit
  • Aptitude for and commitment to studies in Science

Cavill Medicinal Chemistry Scholarship (UGCA1424)

  • Value: $5,000 per annum
  • Duration: The normal minimum duration of program
  • Number available: One

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate studies in the Bachelor of Medicinal Chemistry.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

  • Academic Merit
  • Aptitude for and commitment to studies in Medicinal Chemistry

Other scholarships

You do not need to submit an application to be considered for the below scholarships/awards. Selection will be made automatically based on academic merit and individual criteria.

Faculty of Science Scholarship (UGCA1106)

  • Value: $5,000 per annum
  • Duration: The normal minimum duration of program
  • Number available: One

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Have completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent) or IB, either:
    • in the year prior to commencing study at UNSW, or
    • in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period; and

  • Be undertaking full-time undergraduate study in one of the following disciplines:
    • 3970 Bachelor of Science
    • 3962 Bachelor of Advance Science (Honours)
    • 3956 Bachelor of Advanced Mathematics (Honours); and

  • Receive an offer via UAC in December Round 2

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

  • Academic Merit - it is expected applicants will have received a minimum ATAR, or equivalent, of 98.5 (excluding adjustment factors).

Women in Science Scholarship (UGCA1599)

  • Value: $5,000 per annum
  • Duration: The normal minimum duration of program
  • Number available: One

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be female

  • Have completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent) or IB, either:
    • in the year prior to commencing study at UNSW, or
    • in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period; and

  • Be undertaking full-time undergraduate study in one of the following disciplines:
    • 3970 Bachelor of Science
    • 3962 Bachelor of Advance Science (Honours)
    • 3956 Bachelor of Advanced Mathematics (Honours); and

  • Receive an offer via UAC in December Round 2

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

  • Academic Merit - it is expected applicants will have received a minimum ATAR, or equivalent, of 98.5 (excluding adjustment factors).

Science Achiever Award (UGCA1358)

  • Value: $6,000 per annum
  • Duration: One Year
  • Number available: Three

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Have completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent) or IB, either:
    • in the year prior to commencing study at UNSW, or
    • in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period; and

  • Be undertaking full-time undergraduate study in any Faculty of Science undergraduate degree program.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

  • Academic Merit - it is expected applicants will have received a minimum ATAR, or equivalent, of 99 (excluding adjustment factors).
