Outline
The purpose of this scholarship is to award a part residential Scholarship for a student from a rural or regional area living at the Kensington Colleges at UNSW.
Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Have completed the HSC (or equivalent)in the previous year, or two years if they have not undertaken any tertiary study in the meantime
  • Proposing to undertake full-time study at UNSW as a first year undergraduate
  • Applicants family home, for the last four years of the applicants high school years must have been located in a rural, regional or a remote area of Australia
  • Must reside or have been offered a place at one of the Kensington Colleges
  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident

Selection

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

  • Academic merit
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities - in their school and wider community
  • Contributions to the wider community, through activities such as community service and sporting participation
  • Commitment to extra-curricular activities such as Arts / Music / Cultural / Sports
  • Reference, from a non-family member and submitted as part of the Kensington College selection criteria will also be used to support selection
  • Preference will be given to applicants from a very remote or remote area who completed high school in these areas
  • Preference will be given to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Art and Design
  • Preference may be given to applicants in receipt of means-tested Centrelink Benefits, such as ABSTUDY, Youth Allowance, or Austudy
