UNSW Advantage Award & UNSW Gateway Award

What is the UNSW Gateway Admission Pathway?​

• The Gateway Admission Pathway is an early offer scheme for students from underrepresented backgrounds.

What support is available?

• Advantage Award (valued at $10,000 for 1 year) - awarded to students from a low-socioeconomic area (bottom 25%) based on IEO indexes of SEIFA criteria, or those who hold an eligible refugee or humanitarian visa, and receive ann offer from UNSW and enrol for Term 1, 2027.
• Gateway Award (valued at $1,000 for 1 year) - awarded to students who attend a Gateway Partner School and enrol in that program for Term 1, 2027.

Students who meet criteria for both the Advantage Award and Gateway Award will receive both payments, totaling $11,000 for first year studies.

Equity Scholarships

UNSW also offers a range of Equity scholarships to assist students who may experience financial or other educational disadvantage with the costs of tertiary study and help them reach their academic potential. Please refer to UNSW Equity Scholarships 2027 for more information.

If you have lodged a Gateway Admission Pathway application, you will be automatically considered for Equity Scholarships. You will only need to submit an additional Educational Access Scheme (EAS) or Equity scholarship (ES) via UAC if you want us to know about any additional hardships that have affected your studies. If you're successful, the UNSW Scholarships Office will contact you directly.

Applicants wanting to be considered for a UNSW Equity Scholarship must submit a UAC Equity Scholarship (ES) application and/or UAC Educational Access Scheme (EAS) application directly to UAC. 

UNSW participates in many rounds. You only need to submit ONE Equity Scholarship (ES) application via UAC during each 12-month admissions period. Your application remains live throughout this period, and you will be considered for any available Equity Scholarships for which you are eligible until March 2027.
