The Daniel and Helen Gauchat Residential Scholarship for Rural Medical Students is a residential scholarship for students from a rural area in their first year of studying Medicine whilst living at one of the Kensington Colleges at UNSW.
The scholarship will specifically help cover residential college fees.
Application Process
This scholarship is included in the Kensington Colleges Residential Scholarship Common Application. In order to be potentially considered for this scholarship please apply via the advertisement Kensington Colleges Residential Scholarships(UGCE1410)
Applicants must also apply directly to the
Kensington Colleges to secure a place of residence and inform them of your intention to apply for the Kensington Colleges scholarships
- Applicants must have completed the HSC (or equivalent) in the previous two years and be proposing to undertake full-time study in the first year of an undergraduate Medicine degree at UNSW.
- The applicant's family home, for the last four years of the applicant's high school years, must have been located in a rural area.
- The applicant must be applying to, or have been offered, a place to reside at one of the Kensington Colleges at UNSW.
Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:
- Academic merit
- Leadership qualities
- Contribution to the wider community, through activities such as community service and sporting participation
- Proven commitment to external activities such as Arts / Music / Culture / Sport
- A reference, from a non-family member (submitted as part of the Kensington Colleges application, the reference will be used to support to the scholarship application)
- Preference will be given to students from an outer regional or remote area
