Outline

Each year UNSW has a number of scholarships and awards available to support UNSW coursework students undertaking an overseas Exchange Program (outbound Exchange). Scholarships and awards are intended to assist with the costs of studying overseas, and are awarded across a range of areas.

University students from partner universities (inbound Exchange) or who are participating in the Study Abroad program at UNSW (inbound Exchange), should contact the Study Abroad and Exchange team for information on available scholarships and awards.

On this page you will find information on available scholarships and awards - some that require an application, and others that do not require you to submit a scholarship application.

Merit Scholarships

Eligible UNSW students participating in an Official Exchange Program in 2026 are not required to submit an application for the awards listed in this section. Eligible students will be automatically considered for these awards.

Offers for these awards will be made to eligible students on a competitive basis using your Weighted Average Mark (WAM). You do not need to submit any specific scholarship application or additional supporting documentation to be considered.

Exchange awards available in 2026 that do not require a scholarship application:

UNSW Student Exchange Achievement Award (UGTR1048)	$5,000 one-off lump sum payment	Be or currently enrolled in any UNSW coursework program; and, Be selected to undertake a UNSW Exchange Program; and Be accepted by a UNSW Exchange Partner Institution.
UNSW Business School BCom (International) Exchange Travel Award (UGTR1052)	$5,000 one-off lump sum payment	Meet the eligibility criteria for an Official UNSW Exchange Program; and, Have been accepted by an Official UNSW Exchange Program overseas partner institution and accepted the offer; and, Be enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce (International) (3558) program.
UNSW Student Exchange Engineering Award (UGTR1049)	$2,000 one-off lump sum payment	Meet the eligibility criteria for an Official UNSW Exchange Program; and, Have been accepted by an Official UNSW Exchange Program overseas partner institution and accepted the offer; and, Be enrolled in a UNSW coursework program offered by the Faculty of Engineering.
Vincent Lo Award (UGTR1011)	$5,000 one-off lump sum payment	Be currently enrolled in an eligible UNSW degree program; and Be eligible and have been accepted to undertake a UNSW Official Exchange Program at a UNSW exchange partner university; and Be studying a Business degree component while on exchange.
Harry Manson Award (UGTR1012)	$7,000 one-off lump sum payment	Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident; and, Have been approved to undertake exchange for one or two semester(s) at an approved international University; and, Be enrolled in a UNSW undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program. Not be in receipt of another award and/ or scholarship relating to their exchange.
Douglas N Daft Exchange Award (UGTR1024)	$8,000 one-off lump sum payment	Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (including Permanent Humantarian Visa Holders) or New Zealand Citizen; and, Be enrolled in a UNSW Business School undergraduate coursework degree program (enrolment in a double degree in combination with a UNSW Business School program is also permissible);and Be eligible and have been accepted to undertake a UNSW Official Exchange Program at a UNSW exchange partner university in Asia.
Alumni Exchange Award (UGTR1015)	$8,000 one-off lump sum payment	Be currently enrolled in an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program. Be eligible and have been accepted to undertake a UNSW Official Exchange Program; and Be eligible and have been accepted to undertake a UNSW Official Exchange Program; and Have not been award a UNSW Scholarsihp or Award for the same UNSW Official Exchange Program.
RC Sutton/ Jardine Matheson Scholarship (UGTR1044)	up to $8,500 one-off lump sum payment	Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (including Permanent Humantarian Visa Holders) or New Zealand Citizen; and, Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program offered by the UNSW Business School; and Be studying a Business degree component while on exchange Be eligible and have been accepted to undertake a UNSW Official Exchange Program at a UNSW exchange partner university in Asia.

Equity Scholarships

To be considered for the following, applicants must have completed a UAC Equity Scholarship (ES) application and be a UNSW student participating in an Official Exchange Program in 2026. Eligible students with an appropriate UAC Equity Scholarship application will be automatically considered for these awards.

The deadline for UAC Equity Scholarship applications for Term 1 2026 Exchange is 11:59pm, 5 September 2025.

The deadline for UAC Equity Scholarship applications for Term 3, 2026 Exchange is 11:59pm, 6 February 2026.

Equity awards available in 2026 for outbound Exchange students:

Faculty of Engineering Exchange Assistance Award (UGTR1041)	$5,000 one-off lump sum payment	Meet the eligibility criteria for an Official UNSW Exchange Program; and, Have been accepted by an Official UNSW Exchange Program overseas partner institution and accepted the offer; and, Be enrolled in a UNSW undergraduate coursework program offered by the Faculty of Engineering; and. Demonstrate at least one disadvantage through a UAC Equity Scholarship (ES) application.
UNSW Student Exchange Equity Scholarships (UGTR1046)	$12,000 one-off lump sum payment	Meet the eligibility criteria for an Official UNSW Exchange Program; and, Have been accepted by an Official UNSW Exchange Program overseas partner institution and accepted the offer; and, Be enrolled in a UNSW undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program; and. Demonstrate at least one disadvantage through a UAC Equity Scholarship (ES) application.
Sarah Walters 40th Anniversary Travel Award (UGTR1004)	$5,000 one-off lump sum payment	Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (including Permanent Humantarian Visa Holders) or New Zealand Citizen; and, Be currently enrolled and undertaking undergraduate coursework study in the School of Social Sciences; and, Be eligible and have been accepted to undertake a UNSW Official Exchange Program at a UNSW exchange partner university. Demonstrate at least one disadvantage through a UAC Equity Scholarship (ES) application.

Each candidate will be considered on the basis of their UAC Equity Scholarship (ES) application and ability to demonstrate one or more of the identified criteria for equity scholarships. Awards will be allocated to students identified to be in the greatest needed based on the UAC data provided.
