Outline

The purpose of the Award is to provide an opportunity for undergraduate students in the Faculty of Engineering or the School of Built Environment to study at an overseas partner university. This Award will provide a chance for students from all walks of life to experience the cultural and life enrichment of travel during their undergraduate degree.

It is intended that the Award will be awarded to a student undertaking overseas exchange in Term 3, 2025.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must meet all the following criteria:

  • Be an Australian citizen currently residing in Australia.
  • Be accepted to undertake a period of study on a UNSW Official Exchange Program at an approved overseas partner university in Term 3, 2025.
  • Be enrolled full-time in any undergraduate coursework program in one of the following Faculties or Schools:
      • Engineering
      • School of Built Environment
    Note: In the case the successful recipient already holds a travel award of the same value associated with exchange in Term 3, 2025, the award will be allocated to the next successful recipient as only one travel award is permitted per exchange.
  • Selection

    Each applicant will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate:

  • Academic Merit (minimum credit average)
  • Leadership skills (school, workplace, or community)
  • Extra-curricular activities (sporting, cultural activities, volunteer/work experience)
  • Commitment to UNSW campus life
  • A statement outlining the focus of the proposed overseas study, including potential long-term benefits to UNSW and to the broader Australian community, as well as expectations of the personal benefits of this experience.
  • Students must be able to demonstrate difficult financial circumstances based on their UAC Equity Scholarship application.

  • Completing a UAC Equity Scholarship application is required to be considered for this scholarship. UNSW Scholarships will be participating in UAC Equity Scholarship September Round 2.

  • Applicants will need to apply and complete their UAC Equity Scholarship Application by 11.59pm, Friday, 5 September 2025.
  • Interviews

    No interviews are required.

    Applications with unanswered application questions will not be assessed. Late applications/supporting documentation will not be accepted.

    UNSW reserves the right not to award a scholarship, where there is no applicant of sufficient merit, or if the applicant does not meet the scholarship eligibility and/or selection criteria.
