Outline
The Indigenous General Merit Scholarships for Postgraduate Students Commencing Term 1, 2024 aims to encourage and assist Indigenous Australian students to undertake study at UNSW.

While Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity is unique and sacred to every person, UNSW scholarships for Indigenous students will require proof of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity and heritage. If you have not already provided proof of identity and heritage to Nura Gili, any Indigenous specific scholarship offer made by UNSW Scholarships will be conditional upon receipt of proof of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage to Nura Gili as outlined on the Nura Gili website. By applying for the UNSW Indigenous Postgraduate Scholarships Program you may be considered for the following scholarships. More scholarships may be added to this list progressively.

Postgraduate Commencing Scholarships

Scholarship Value and Duration Eligibility
UNSW Indigenous Postgraduate Business Scholarship (PGCE1015)

$10,000 per annum for the minimum duration of program

  • Indigenous Australian (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander only).

  • Receive a full offer to an eligible postgraduate degree program offerred by UNSW Business School.

  • Applicants commencing an AGSM MBA program may also apply

Juris Doctor (JD) Scholarship for Indigenous Students (PGCE1007)

$10,000 per annum for the minimum duration of program

  • Indigenous Australian (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander only).

  • Be commencing or currently enrolled in the UNSW Juris Doctor Program.

  • The recipient must be commencing or currently enrolled in full-time study in Juris Doctor at UNSW.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:
  • Academic Merit (including where applicable, results from UNSW pre-Law program or equivalent preparation programs
  • Relevant academic, community and leadership achievement and potential (including, if applicable, engagement with Nura Gili and/or equivalent university programs and services);
  • Commitment to studying for a Juris Doctor at UNSW
  • Leadership skills (school, workplace or community)
  • Extra-curricular activities (sporting, cultural activities, volunteer/work experience)
  • Aptitude and commitment to studies
  • Reasons for undertaking the program of study

UNSW reserves the right not to award a scholarship, where there is no applicant of sufficient merit, or if the applicant does not meet the scholarship eligibility and/or selection criteria.
