Each year UNSW has a number of scholarships and awards available to support UNSW coursework students undertaking an overseas Exchange Program (outbound Exchange). Scholarships and awards are intended to assist with the costs of studying overseas, and are awarded across a range of areas.

University students from partner universities (inbound Exchange) or who are participating in the Study Abroad program at UNSW (inbound Exchange), should contact the Study Abroad and Exchange team for information on available scholarships and awards.

Merit Scholarships

Eligible UNSW students participating in an Official Exchange Program in 2023 are not required to submit an application for the awards listed in this section. Eligible students will be automatically considered for these awards.

Offers for these awards will be made to eligible students on a competitive basis using your Weighted Average Mark (WAM). You do not need to submit any specific scholarship application or additional supporting documentation to be considered.

Exchange awards available in 2023 that do not require a scholarship application:

UNSW Business School BCom (International) Exchange Travel Award (UGTR1052)	$5,000 one-off lump sum payment	Meet the eligibility criteria for an Official UNSW Exchange Program; and, Have been accepted by an Official UNSW Exchange Program overseas partner institution and accepted the offer; and, Be enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce (International) (3558) program.
Faculty of Science BSc (International) Exchange Travel Award (UGTR1026)	$2,000 one-off lump sum payment	Meet the eligibility criteria for an Official UNSW Exchange Program; and, Have been accepted by an Official UNSW Exchange Program overseas partner institution and accepted the offer; and, Be enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (International) (3987) program.
UNSW Student Exchange Engineering Award (UGTR1049)	$2,000 one-off lump sum payment	Meet the eligibility criteria for an Official UNSW Exchange Program; and, Have been accepted by an Official UNSW Exchange Program overseas partner institution and accepted the offer; and, Be enrolled in a UNSW coursework program offered by the Faculty of Engineering.
Arts & Social Sciences Southeast Asia Travel Award (PUTR1011)	$10,000 one-off lump sum payment	Meet the eligibility criteria for an Official UNSW Exchange Program; and, Have been accepted by an Official UNSW Exchange Program overseas partner institution in Southeast Asia and accepted the offer; and, Be enrolled in a program offered by the School of Arts & Media, the School of Education, the School of Humanities & Languages, or the School of Social Sciences.
Alumni Exchange Award (UGTR1015)	$8,000 one-off lump sum payment	Meet the eligibility criteria for an Official UNSW Exchange Program; and, Have been accepted by an Official UNSW Exchange Program overseas partner institution and accepted the offer; and, Be enrolled in a UNSW undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program.
RC Sutton/Jardine Matheson Exchange Award (UGTR1044)	$5,000 one-off lump sum payment	Meet the eligibility criteria for an Official UNSW Exchange Program; and, Have been accepted by an Official UNSW Exchange Program overseas partner institution in Asia and accepted the offer; and, Be enrolled in an undergraduate coursework program offered by the UNSW Business School; and, Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or New Zealand citizen.
Douglas N Daft Exchange Award (UGTR1044)	$5,000 one-off lump sum payment	Meet the eligibility criteria for an Official UNSW Exchange Program; and, Have been accepted by an Official UNSW Exchange Program overseas partner institution in Asia and accepted the offer; and, Be enrolled in an undergraduate coursework program offered by the UNSW Business School; and, Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or New Zealand citizen.

Equity Scholarships

To be considered for the following, applicants must have completed a UAC Equity Scholarship (ES) application for 2022-23 (for Term 1 Exchange) or for 2023-24 (for Term 3 Exchange) and be a UNSW student participating in an Official Exchange Program in 2023. Eligible students with an appropriate UAC Equity Scholarship application will be automatically considered for these awards.

UAC Equity Scholarship applications for 2022-23 are currently open but will be closed in March 2023. UAC Equity Scholarship applications for 2023-24 should open in April 2023, and once submitted, remain valid until March 2024.

Equity awards available in 2023 for outbound Exchange students:

Faculty of Engineering Exchange Assistance Award (UGTR1041)	$5,000 one-off lump sum payment	Meet the eligibility criteria for an Official UNSW Exchange Program; and, Have been accepted by an Official UNSW Exchange Program overseas partner institution and accepted the offer; and, Be enrolled in a UNSW undergraduate coursework program offered by the Faculty of Engineering; and. Demonstrate at least one disadvantage through a UAC Equity Scholarship (ES) application.

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

Each candidate will be considered on the basis of their UAC Equity Scholarship (ES) application and ability to demonstrate one or more of the identified criteria for equity scholarships. Awards will be allocated to students identified to be in the greatest needed based on the UAC data provided.

Other Exchange-Related Scholarships

The following scholarships, awards and grants may also be available to support overseas exchange. Please note that these are not necessarily administered by UNSW Scholarships, though we will endeavour to provide further information where possible.
