Outline

The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage the highest quality candidates in undergraduate Medicine & Science programs to consider undertaking an ILP or Honours Project commencing in Term 1 2022.

By applying for the Faculty of Medicine Honours Scholarships you may be considered for the following scholarships depending on the individual scholarship criteria. More scholarships may be added to this list progressively.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria Selection Criteria
UNSW South Western Sydney Medicine Honours Scholarship (UGCA1597)
$5,000 for 1 year

  • Be currently enrolled in the UNSW MD Program
  • Be eligible to undertake an approved Honours program as part of 3831 Science (Medicine) Honours program (commencing in 2022)
  • Undertaking an Honours project at the South Western Sydney campuses of UNSW, including at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research

  • Academic Merit
  • Be accepted into an Honours program within the South Western Sydney Clinical School
  • A short statement of no more than one page on their planned project
  • UNSW Medical Research Honours Scholarship - South Western Sydney (UGCA1598)
    $5,000 for 1 year

    • Be currently enrolled in an eligible UNSW degree program
    • Be eligible to undertake an approved Honours program offered by South Western Sydney Clinical School as part of an approved Honours program in Science, Medical Science, Advanced Science and Exercise Physiology (commencing in 2022)
    • Academic Merit
    • Be accepted into an Honours program within the South Western Sydney Clinical School
    • A short statement of no more than one page on their planned project

    UNSW Medicine Program Education Award (UGCA1558)
    $5,000 for 1 year

    • Applicants must be entering the fourth year of a BMed/MD degree at UNSW in 2022
    • Be eligible to undertake an ILP or Honours Project in the field of Medical Education
    • Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen

    • Academic merit
    • Aptitude and commitment to the preferred program of study.
    • The quality of the ILP or Honours Proposal and potential impact of the research in the field of Medical Education

    Dami Attapatu ILP Award in Anatomy (UGCA1569)
    $5,000 for 1 year

    • Applicants must be entering the fourth year of a BMed/MD degree at UNSW in 2022
    • Be eligible to undertake an Honours or ILP in the area of anatomy
    • Academic merit
    • Leadership skills(school, workplace or community)
    • Extra-curricular activities(sporting, cultural activities, volunteer/work experience)
    • Aptitude and commitment to studies in relevant area of study

    David Walsh Memorial Scholarship (UGCA1064)
    $5,000 for 1 year

    • Be an undergraduate student proposing to undertake the one year Honours Program in Bachelor of Medical Science, Bachelor of Science (Advanced Science) or Science (Medicine) Honours in developmental biology, genetics or biochemistry and their relationship to developmental birth defects
    • Academic merit
    • An Honours thesis proposal with a thesis topic in the area of birth defects
    Selection

    You must provide evidence supporting the above criteria in your online application. Please refer to the Scholarship Application Supporting Documents for a detailed list of examples.

    Unanswered application questions or claims without supporting documentation will not be assessed. Late applications/supporting documentation will not be accepted.

    UNSW reserves the right not to award a scholarship, where there is no applicant of sufficient merit, or if the applicant does not meet the scholarship eligibility and/or selection criteria.
