UNSW offers a wide range of Equity Scholarships to assist commencing students to undertake full-time study for the duration of their coursework degree program.

Our Equity Scholarships program includes:

Scholarship Name Description Value and Duration Number Available
UNSW Accommodation Scholarship

Assists commencing undergraduate or postgraduate coursework students with accommodation costs while studying at UNSW. Students must have applied and received an offer to reside at any UNSW on-campus accommodation to be eligible. The Scholarship will be paid as accommodation fees directly to UNSW Student Accommodation.

In the event that a recipient is receiving the Residential Cost Option (RCO) the minimum value of the scholarship will be paid as a $7,000 stipend towards living allowance.

UNSW Access Scholarship Assists commencing undergraduate coursework students to undertake studies at UNSW. $10,000 p.a. for standard program duration 30
Adele & Gildo Pegoraro Scholarship Assists an undergraduate student commencing the Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine (BMed/MD) at UNSW. $10,000 p.a. for standard program duration 1
Women in STEM Equity Scholarship Established to support women commencing an undergraduate STEM program in the Faculty of Science or Faculty of Engineering. $10,000 p.a. for standard program duration 5
Dr Ho Kok Tong Scholarship Established to encourage and support an undergraduate student commencing the Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine (BMed/MD) at UNSW. $6,000 p.a. for standard program duration 1
UNSW President and Vice-Chancellors Equity Scholarship Assists commencing undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students. $5,000 p.a. for standard program duration 122
Adamo and Francesca Boncardo Equity Scholarship Established to encourage students from disadvantaged backgrounds to come to UNSW and study an undergraduate coursework degree program in any faculty. The scholarship will support students who may not otherwise be financially able to come to university. $5,000 p.a. for standard program duration 2
UNSW Alumni Association Equity Scholarship Assists high school leavers who are financially disadvantaged to undertake undergraduate coursework studies at UNSW. $5,000 p.a. for standard program duration 1
U-Committee Scholarship Assists and supports female students who are commencing undergraduate coursework studies at UNSW. $5,000 per annum for standard program duration 1
E & FJ Cowper Matraville Sports High School Scholarship Established to support commencing graduates of Matraville Sports High School to undertake an undergraduate degree program at UNSW Sydney. $5,000 p.a. for standard program duration 1
Ngoc Tram Nguyen Scholarship A UNSW Law 40th Anniversary Scholarship established to support socio-economically disadvantaged students who have completed their schooling in a non-selective, public secondary school located in South Western Sydney. The scholarship will enable the recipient to undertake an undergraduate combined law or Juris Doctor degree. $5,000 p.a. for up to 5 years 2
Eliathamby Ambikairajah Engineering Scholarship Established to encourage a high school leaver to study in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Master of Engineering (BE/ME) in Electrical Engineering, a five-year integrated degree program offered by UNSW Engineering. $5,000 p.a. for standard program duration 1
Alumni Leaders Scholarship in Business Established in recognition of the gifts made by Alumni Leaders of the UNSW Business School. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage students from a disadvantaged background to undertake an undergraduate coursework degree program at UNSW Business School. $5,000 p.a. for up to 4 years 1
UNSW Business School Alumni Scholarship Established to encourage students facing disadvantage to undertake an undergraduate coursework degree program at UNSW Business School. $5,000 p.a. for up to 4 years 1
UNSW Pre-Entry and Enabling Programs Grant Assists students who are undertaking an approved enabling or pre-entry program at UNSW, including:
  • UNSW Prep Program 17-19 years
  • University Preparation Program (Mature Age Pathway)
  • UNSW Indigenous Admission Scheme
  • UNSW Indigenous Preparatory Programs

$5,000 for one year for a full-time program.

Applicants undertaking a part-time pre-entry or enabling program will also be considered and will be eligible for half the value of the Grant.

Up to 25
UNSW Equity Bursary Assists currently enrolled undergraduate or postgraduate coursework students. $2,500 for one term 100

Other one year Awards for students commencing or currently enrolled at UNSW are also available.

Selection

Candidates will be considered on the basis of their UAC Equity Scholarship application. UAC Equity Scholarship applications for 2018-19 are now open.

Students who have submitted an application for the 2018-19 UAC Educational Access Scheme and received an offer of admission to UNSW will also be considered for equity scholarships.

UNSW participates in multiple Equity Scholarship (ES) offer rounds throughout the year. Students who have submitted an ES application via UAC and are successful will receive a notification from UAC and an official offer letter from UNSW Scholarships.

UNSW will be participating in the following Equity Scholarship (ES) Offer Rounds:

  • December Round 2: Apply by Wednesday 12 December 2018
  • January Round 1: Apply by Friday 4 January 2019

Further offer rounds will be added throughout the year and will be listed on UAC.

UNSW may also make scholarship offers directly to successful applicants.
