Outline

The purpose of this application is for commencing students to be potentially considered for scholarships and awards under the School of Mathematics & Statistics, depending on individual scholarship criteria.

School of Mathematics & Statistics Beautiful Mind Scholarship (UGCA1392)

  • Value: $5,000 per annum
  • Duration: The normal minimum duration of program
  • Number available: Two (1 reserved for Female)

    Additional Criteria

    In addition to the below Eligibility & Selection Criteria, applicants will be assessed based on:

    • Academic Merit
    • Must have competed in the Mathematical Olympiad or UNSW Annual School Mathematics Competition, or similar, in Yr 11 or Yr12, and provide their results

School of Mathematics & Statistics Advanced Mathematics Scholarship (UGCA1108)

  • Value: $5,000 per annum
  • Duration: The normal minimum duration of program
  • Number available: Two (1 reserved for Female)

    Additional Criteria

    In addition to the below Eligibilty & Selection Criteria, to be eligible applicants must be undertaking a Major in Mathematics.

School of Mathematics & Statistics Rural Student Scholarship (UGCA1079)

  • Value: $5,000 per annum
  • Duration: The normal minimum duration of program
  • Number available: One

    Additional Criteria

    In addition to the below Eligibilty & Selection Criteria, to be eligible applicants must be from a rural or remote area.

    The Australian Standard Geographical Classification Remoteness Areas (ASGC) classifications accepted under the program are RA2 (with the exception of Hobart), RA3, RA4 or RA5. To determine whether your home postcode is classified as inner regional (RA2), outer regional (RA3) or remote rural (RA4 or RA5) please refer to the Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) map for details. (Note: Hobart is not classified as rural for the purposes of this Scholarship)

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Have completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent) or IB, either:
    • in the year prior to commencing study at UNSW, or
    • in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period; and
  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate study (single or dual degree) in:
    • Bachelor of Science (Advanced Mathematics) (Honours) or
    • Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours)
Selection

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

  • Academic Merit
  • Aptitude and commitment to studies in an area of Mathematics

You do not need to submit an application to be considered for the below scholarships/awards. Selection will be made automatically based on Academic Merit (ATAR or equivalent) and the individual eligibility criteria.

School of Mathematics & Statistics, Teachers Scholarship (UGCA1109)

  • Value: $5,000 per annum
  • Duration: The normal minimum duration of program
  • Number available: One

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Must have completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent) or IB, either:
      • in the year prior to commencing study at UNSW, or
      • in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period; and
    • Must be undertaking a Science/Education degree with a declared major in Mathematics.

  • Value: $5,000 per annum
  • Duration: The normal minimum duration of program
  • Number available: Two (1 reserved for Female)

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Must have completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent) or IB, either:
      • in the year prior to commencing study at UNSW, or
      • in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period; and
    • Be commencing full-time undergraduate study in a Bachelor of Data Science & Decisions - Quantitative Data Science plan (MATHE13959)
