Outline

The Faculty of Science Rural Scholarships aim to encourage and assist rural students to undertake study in Science at UNSW.

By applying for the Faculty of Science Rural Scholarships you will be considered for the following scholarships:

  • The Ian and Barbara Burgess Memorial Rural Science Scholarship (UGCE1262)
    • Value: $11,000 pa
    • Duration: Minimum duration of program
  • Bundilla Scholarship (UGCE1023)
    • Value: $ 5,000
    • Duration: 3 years
    • Bachelor of Science (3970) or Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) (3962) degrees only

  • Mathematics & Statistics Rural Student Scholarship (UGCE1079)
    • Value: $ 5,000 pa
    • Duration: Minimum duration of program
    • School of Mathematics & Statistics major only

Eligibility

To be eligible for these scholarships, applicants must:

  • Have completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent) or IB, either:
    • in the year prior to commencing study at UNSW, or
    • in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period.
  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate study in a Faculty of Science program.
    • For the Mathematics & Statistics Rural Student Scholarship (UGCE1079) students must be commencing full-time study in a Bachelor of Advanced Science or Bachelor of Science (Advanced Mathematics) including dual-award degrees, with a major or study plan in the School of Mathematics & Statistics.
  • Be from a rural or isolated area of Australia*

Rural Areas

*Rural areas will generally be considered according to the Australian Standard Geographical Classification - Remoteness Areas. The ASGC classifications accepted under this program are: RA2 (with the exception of Hobart), RA3, RA4 or RA5.

  • Aptitude for and commitment to studies in Science
