Outline

The purpose of the Gift is to provide four (4) Awards to current undergraduate students from the Faculties of Law, Medicine and Science who demonstrate low socio economic circumstances and academic merit.

One Award, valued at $10,000 for one year, will be offered to students studying in each of the following Faculties:

  • Faculty of Law
  • Faculty of Medicine
  • Faculty of Science
One Award, valued at AUD$10,000 for one year, will be offered to a student studying in the School of Mathematics & Statistics.

Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
  • Be currently enrolled in a UNSW program offered by the Faculty of Law, Science, Medicine or School of Mathematics & Statistics;
  • Have submitted a UAC Equity Scholarship application and demonstrated at least one educational disadvantage
Selection

Candidates will be considered on the basis of their Equity Scholarship application to UAC (University Admissions Centre).

Each applicant must be experiencing low socio economic circumstances and will be assessed on their eligibility to demonstrate one or more of the following criteria:

  • Financial hardship
  • Carer responsibilities
  • English language difficulty
  • Sole parent responsibilities
  • Indigenous Australian
  • Long term medical condition/disability or ongoing affects of abuse
  • Refugee status
  • Regional or remote disadvantages

In addition to the above, applicants will be ranked according to their WAM results.

The award of the Scholarship may not be deferred.

Applicants must submit a UAC Undergraduate Equity Scholarship application by Wednesday 30 November 2017
