Outline

The Business School Rural Scholarships aims to encourage students from a rural background to undertake study in the Business School.

By applying for the Business School Rural Scholarships you may be considered for multiple scholarships.

  • Philandron Foundation Scholarship (UGCE1080)
    • Value: $10,000
    • Duration: Up to 4 years
    • Program Requirement: Full-time undergraduate study (single or dual degree) in one of the following: Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Economics
  • John Niland Scholarship in Business (UGCA1439)
    • Value: $7,000
    • Duration: 1 year only
    • Program Requirement: Full-time undergraduate study (in any single or dual degree) in the UNSW Business School.
    Eligibility

    To be eligible for these scholarships, applicants must:

    • Have been enrolled at a country high school in NSW and be from rural NSW. The definition of rural* is:
      • Family home located in a rural or isolated area for at least four years of the recipient's High school studies
      • Attendance at a secondary school in a rural or isolated area for at least four years OR in receipt of a scholarship to attend a metropolitan boarding school.
    • Be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident
    • Be commencing full-time undergraduate study in the relevant Business School Program
    • Have completed the NSW HSC (or interstate equivalent) or IB, either:
      • in the year prior to commencing study at UNSW, or
      • in the previous two years prior to commencing at UNSW, provided no tertiary study was undertaken during this period.

    • Rural Areas

      *Rural areas will generally be considered according to the Australian Standard Geographical Classification - Remoteness Areas. You can find out the ASGC classification of your home and school addresses using the search function at this website:www.doctorconnect.gov.au/internet/otd/Publishing.nsf/Content/locator

      The ASGC classifications accepted under this program are: RA2 (with the exception of Hobart), RA3, RA4 or RA5.

    Selection

    Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

    • Academic Merit
    • Enrollment into the relevant Business School Program
    Interviews
